Life Industry Experience Studies - Archive

Long-Term Care Valuation - A LTC Valuation working group of the SOA has undertaken to develop analysis that will leverage the LTC experience database for use in model construction that would permit creation of a new valuation method for LTC liabilities for insurance carriers. MIB Solutions' analysts are working to define the correct business rules and specifications.

Impairment Study Capture System (ISCS) - A major initiative is underway regarding the industry support of and participation in supplying the ISCS with relevant data to ensure that this valuable data resource is maintained appropriately. A study of Cardiac cases among insurance policyholders is currently underway, along with the forthcoming publication of industry mortality experience among insureds underwritten with aviation activity or hazardous sports avocations.

Mortality Guarantee in Variable Products Experience Study - This project examines mortality experience during the deferred period under variable annuities and other contracts with similar benefits. This will examine experience relative to the MGDB Valuation Table. This is a pilot study project under Committee for Life Insurance Research - Bob Johansen (Researcher).

Structured Settlements 1997, 1999 - The broad objective of this study is to study the mortality experience under structured settlement annuity contracts. This potentially will lead to valuation tables for structured settlement contracts. Last complete study is 1993. 1997 tables were published, but no commentary.
