Lee B. Oliphant, Executive Vice President
Lee Oliphant joined MIB in 1999 as the company’s first Chief Financial Officer. He began his career with a Big Four public accounting firm, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Oliphant left public accounting for senior level executive management positions at various high technology companies in the Boston area. As MIB's Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Oliphant was responsible for the accounting, treasury, strategic and tactical planning, facilities, and all aspects of financial management of MIB. In 2004, Mr. Oliphant assumed the additional role heading up MIB’s sales and marketing functions. In June 2006, Mr. Oliphant became Executive Vice President of MIB Group and MIB Solutions. He has full responsibility for MIB Solutions' success in the market with new products and services as well as the development of new markets. Mr. Oliphant holds an M.B.A. from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and has a B.S. in Business Administration from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Stacy J. Gill, Vice President, Actuarial and Statistical Research
Stacy Gill heads MIB Solutions’ Actuarial and Statistical Research Group which is responsible for product research and development as well as industry-wide experience studies and medical impairment studies conducted by the Center for Medico-Actuarial Statistics (CMAS). Mr. Gill joined MIB in 1986 and has held roles of increasing responsibility in technology, industry research and product development. He has spoken before the Society of Actuaries, the Institute of Home Office Underwriters, and the American Academy of Insurance Medicine, and has presented to numerous industry conferences and groups. Mr. Gill holds an M.S. degree in Actuarial Science and a B.S. in Mathematics, both awarded by Boston University.
Thomas E. Rhodes, FSA, MAAA, Associate Vice President and Actuarial Director, Actuarial and Statistical Research
Tom Rhodes is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. As MIB Solutions' Actuarial Director, he oversees intercompany experience studies on life, long-term care insurance and annuities; performs analytic research for insurance companies and reinsurers; and maintains an integral role in developing new products and services for the insurance industry. Mr. Rhodes regularly presents at industry meetings and at NAIC meetings on enterprise risk management and Principles-Based Valuation and is the current Chair of the SOA Individual Life Experience Committee. Prior to joining MIB, he worked for the Guardian Life Insurance Company for more than 15 years, most recently as Second Vice President and Actuary. He also was the U.S. Veterans Administration Chief Actuary. Mr. Rhodes has a B.S. degree from Oberlin College in Ohio and an M.S. in Business Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Douglas M. Mertz, Vice President, Sales
Doug Mertz joined MIB in January 2000 to develop and lead a newly created sales group. A seasoned veteran of the insurance industry, he brings over 35 years of sales and marketing expertise to his role as MIB Solutions’ Vice President of Sales. In addition to leading a group of sales professionals, he personally supports the reinsurance market as well as maintaining a role on the management team for new product – new market development and pricing. Mr. Mertz maintains revenue responsibilities for a majority of MIB Solutions' products. Prior to joining MIB, he served as Vice President and Director of Agencies at Massachusetts Casualty Insurance Company in Boston. He also spent 10 years with the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company in Worcester, Massachusetts where he held numerous sales and marketing positions. Mr. Mertz acquired his RHU designation in 1981.
Kevin J. Gorny, Senior Director, Information Technology
Kevin Gorny has over 30 years’ experience with MIB in Operations, Finance and Technology Management. Prior to his appointment as Senior Director, he served in various management positions in Computer Operations and Technology Services and is known for building lean, talented and highly-motivated technology teams. He is Project Chair for MIB's Data Center Relocation, a Principal on MIB's New Workplace Team and has served as Project Chair for MIB's Disaster Recovery Plan. He currently serves on the NOREX Member Advisory Board. Mr. Gorny is responsible for technology acquisition for MIB and has continually ensured these investments cost-effectively provide the highest levels of availability and reliability. He attended Suffolk University, Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Brian S. Millman, Senior Manager, New Business Development
Brian Millman has responsibility for identifying profitable new business opportunities, and the development, execution and management of bringing those products and services to the market. He continues to have product management responsibilities for Audit Focus and our new consulting services suite: Underwriting Risk Management Solutions. After starting his MIB career in Systems and Technology in 1994, Mr. Millman worked in various capacities with MIB's database systems and connectivity products including Production System Analyst and Systems Programmer. Immediately prior to his appointment as product manager, Mr. Millman was a Marketing Analyst with MIB Solutions' product development group. He holds an M.B.A. from Curry College and a B.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has multiple technology certificates from Bentley College and Northeastern University.
David O. Aronson, Marketing Director
David Aronson has worked in marketing and corporate communications for 25 years and has held a variety of communications, public relations and marketing positions in multiple industries including life insurance, software, and technology as well as the management of several technology trade associations. Mr. Aronson joined MIB in 2002 as the company's first Marketing Communications Manager. Later appointed Marketing Director for MIB Solutions, he maintains responsibility for all product marketing and corporate branding. He started his career at Sun Life of Canada's U.S. Headquarters and later established a communications firm in Boston, principally servicing Fortune 500 clients. Mr. Aronson holds an M.B.A. from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts and earned his B.S. degree from Boston University's College of Communication.
